The younger brother of Chittagong District Parishad member was shot by a local Awami League leader in the port city Chittagong on Saturday night.
Officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station, Jashim Uddin said, the incident took place near the Officer’s Club next to the MA Aziz Stadium when the victim, Md Jainal Anwara got into an argument with the Awami leader.
At one point, Manju, a former general secretary of the Chittagong University Bangladesh Chhatra League and a central member of the Jubo League, pulled out a pistol and shot Jainal in the leg.
Tipped-off, police rushed to the scene, sent Jainal to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment and arrested Manju.
The arrestee told police he had a licence for the pistol.
However, no case has been filed over the incident yet, according to a bdnews24 report.
