Dhaka South City Corporation to halt unauthorised housing projects

While visiting South City Corporation’s Fakirkhali area of Ward No. 75 on Wednesday, DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Taposh instructed the Regional Executive Officer and Property Officer to stop all "housing projects" lacking the proper clearances from the authorities in the Area No. 6 of South City.

Mayor Taposh said, "We have seen some housing companies are occupying land here without the permission of the Southern City Corporation. People are suffering for unplanned housing everywhere.”

"We have already instructed our property department. We have instructed the officials including our regional executive officer to stop dredging (excavation) here. Housing cannot be done here without permission. We will seize the vehicle, equipment and machineries of the organisation if necessary."

As a part of the weekly inspection programme, DSCC Mayor Taposh along with the officials of the organisation visited Daserkandi, Balu Nadir Par, Kayetpara Bazar, Iderkandi and Fakirkhali areas from Trimohini Gudaraghat by boat, reports UNB.

Later he visited the Fakirkhali area and talked to the locals. He spoke to the media reaching Trimohoni Bazaar at noon.

During the visit, South City Chief Executive Officer ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Chief Waste Management Officer Air Commodore. Badrul Amin, Chief Engineer Rezaur Rahman, Secretary Akramuzzaman, Chief Property Officer Russell Sabrin, Chief Revenue Officer Ariful Haque, Additional Chief Engineer Md. Zafar Ahmed, Supervising Engineer Kazi Md. Borhan Uddin, Md. Khairul Baker, Chief Urban Planner Sirajul Islam, local councilor and other concerned officials were present.
