Motor workers suspended bus services from Naogaon to Dhaka via Bogura on Wednesday, protesting the attack on two motor workers union leaders in Bogura.
Locals said on Tuesday afternoon an altercation erupted between some coconut traders and CNG drivers in front of the Mitali Pump in the station road area in Bogura town.
At one stage, when two leaders of the Bogura Motor Workers Union tried to settle the matter, they were stabbed, reports UNB.
Following this incident, motor workers stopped allowing buses from Naogaon to go anywhere through Bogura.
However, some buses are going to Dhaka by using alternative routes.
It was seen that people use battery-run easy-bike for arriving their destinations.
Moslem Uddin, a passenger, said, “I found the bus movement suspended after I came to the bus terminal for going to Bogura for necessary work. I am going to Bogura riding on a battery-run easy-bike as there is no other option. The reason for why bus services have been suspended is nothing but harassment of the common people.”
Rafiqul Islam, secretary of Naogaon Bus Owner Group, said, “No buses will go to Bogura and Dhaka from Naogaon via Bogura over stabbing the workers' leaders. However, some buses are going to Dhaka using Bogura’s Kahalur road.”
