Mariners spend extended periods away from home while continuing to manage their families’ financial needs, support loved ones and plan for their long-term financial future. The nature of their profession demands banking solutions which are accessible, flexible and tailored to a globally mobile lifestyle.

Responding to these unique needs, Standard Chartered has developed a dedicated banking proposition that brings together priority banking privileges, preferential lending rates, processing fee waivers on retail lending facilities, annual fee waivers on eligible credit & debit card, and a range of exclusive banking benefits. Eligible new and existing mariner clients will also enjoy dedicated onboarding benefits, with newly onboarded clients eligible for cashback upon meeting the applicable eligibility and balance requirements. Together, these benefits are designed to make banking simpler, more convenient and more rewarding for mariners at every stage of their financial journey.

Lutful Habib, managing director & head of wealth and retail banking, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, said: “At Standard Chartered Wealth & Retail Banking, we believe meaningful banking begins with understanding the people we serve. Mariners spend long periods away from home yet remain intricately connected to the financial wellbeing of their families and the country. Through this partnership, we are bringing them a dedicated set of banking privileges designed around their unique professional journey and financial needs.”

Capt Md Anam Chowdhury, president, BMMOA, said: “Standard Chartered has recognised the distinct needs of mariners and developed this collaboration around the realities of their profession. Mariners spend long periods away from home while continuing to support their families and contribute to the country. Through this partnership, our members will receive relevant banking privileges that can make their financial lives simpler, more convenient and more rewarding.”
