Ahsan H. Mansoor, the governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB), said that the central bank has not printed any money over the past three months, aiming to address the liquidity crisis through alternative measures.

Speaking at the third Bangladesh Economic Conference at Pan Pacific Sonargaon on Monday (Nov 11), Mansoor said, “We are solving the liquidity crisis without printing money.” He also highlighted longstanding challenges in the banking sector, mentioning that millions of taka have been siphoned off through fraudulent activities over the last 15 years.

According to local media reports, Mansoor affirmed his commitment to stabilising the sector and preventing closures of financial institutions.

Addressing recent reports on the dollar supply, the BB governor confirmed that the central bank has not intervened by selling dollars from its reserves. “There is no shortage of dollars in the market now,” he noted, assuring that banks can fulfil dollar requests as needed.
