709 Bangladeshi students awarded in Edexcel

Pearson’s largest qualification brand ‘Edexcel’, in collaboration with the British Council, conducted its sixth Academic Award Ceremony recently for students in Bangladesh who achieved outstanding results in their International GCSE and A Level examinations in 2017.

The Award Ceremony was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka, said a statement.

This year, a total of 709 awardees received awards for achieving outstanding results. 55 awardees achieved world highest marks in different subjects. 81 primary and lower secondary awardees also received awards for their brilliant results. There were 460 International GCSE and 113 International A Level awardees.

These students have achieved minimum seven ‘A’ Grades and more in their International GCSE subjects and four ‘A’ grades in A Levels. There were some students who have achieved even 11 A Grades in Int. GCSE and 6 ‘A’ grades in A Levels.

Barbara Wickham, Director Bangladesh, British Council was the Guest of Honour and Derek Richardson, Vice President- Pearson, UK attended the grand award ceremony as the Chief Guest. Among others Saidur Rahman, Country Manager, Pearson Bangladesh; Andriani Papapericleous, Director Examinations, British Council; Harish Doraiswamy, Vice President- School, Pearson India and Abdullah Al Mamun Liton, Regional Development Manager, Pearson, Bangladesh were also present at the event.

The excellent performance of the students every year in the examinations conducted by globally renowned qualification providers like Edexcel is a strong proof of this immense potential. Pearson Edexcel, one of the three qualifications providers regulated by the UK government, has been offering its International GCSE and A Level qualifications in Bangladesh for the last 45 years with the support of the British Council. More than 16,000 students take these examinations in Bangladesh every year.

Bangladesh is one of the key countries where a large number of students pursue Edexcel qualifications. Many of these students end up going abroad for higher studies in renowned international and local universities.
