Dhaka University (DU) has ranked top among the Bangladeshi universities in the 2026 ranking of Times Higher Education (THE), a United Kingdom-based renowned education magazine. The university has also improved from last year and secured a position between 801-1000, which was between 1,001-1,200 last year.
The ranking report was published on the official website of THE Magazine on Thursday (9 October). A total of 3,118 universities worldwide have been included in the ranking, which has been determined by analyzing indexes on education, research environment, international outlook, and cooperation with industrial sector.
DU improved 3 points in the research environment index, 9.3 points in the research quality index, and 11.8 points in the cooperation with industrial sector index.
A press release issued by DU's Public Relations Office on Thursday said a 16-member committee has long been working to improve DU's ranking. Pro-VC (Education) Prof. Dr. Mamun Ahmed is the convenor of the committee, while Pro-VC (Admin) Prof. Sayema Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and 13 others are members of the committee.
