Miscreants on Tuesday attacked a union parishad member and damaged his both eyes in Morelganj upazila under Bagerhat district.
The victim UP member is Nazmul Hasan Rana, 40, son of Noor Ali Hawlader, of Sheikhpora village in the area, reports a news agency.
KM Azizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station, said miscreants stopped Nazmul, a member of Boraikhali union parishad, while he was returning home at around 1:30am by a motorbike and damaged his two eyes with a sharp weapon.
Hearing Rana's screams, locals rescued him and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
The reason behind the attack could not be known yet but it is suspected that family feud over shrimp farms might be reasons behind it, the OC added.
Victim’s wife Mukul Begum said her husband was coming back home after visiting Advocate Amirul Alam Milon, Awami League candidate of Bagerhat-4 by-election last night.
