The country's apex investment-promotion agency, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), is going to provide 150 services to the investors through its virtual One Stop Service (OSS) within this year as it signed MoUs with five more organisations on Sunday.

These organisations will provide nine types of services online for the investors through the virtual OSS of the BIDA.

Director-General of BIDA Jibon Krishna Saha Roy inked the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on behalf of the government while General Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited Lutful Haidar Masum, Managing Director of Sundarban Gas Company Limited Tofayel Ahmed, Rajshahi Water Supply and Sewerage Authority Deputy Managing Director Allah Hafiz, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited Shams Abdullah Muhaimin, and Deputy Managing Director of BRAC Bank Limited Tareq Refat Ullah Khan inked the MoU on behalf of their respective organisaitons.

Executive Chairman of BIDA Lokman Hossain Miah was present at the signing ceremony as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, he said record foreign direct investments worth $3.48 billion came to Bangladesh in the fiscal year 2022-23. "Bangladesh is now one of the safest investment destinations for investors," he said.

However, he identified long duration while providing different services to the investors as one of the major challenges to attract more investments in the country.

On this backdrop, BIDA has been implementing the online OSS to facilitate the investment and smooth operations of the businesses, he said.

"BIDA has so far signed MoUs with a total of 48 institutions including the latest five organisations. Currently, BIDA is providing 67 services of 23 organisations to the investors through BIDA OSS," he added.

"Within the next three months, we will provide 80 per cent of services to the investors through the OSS," said the BIDA chief. A total of 150 investment-related services will be provided to investors through this digital platform within this year, he said.

BIDA Executive Member Dr Khandoker Azizul Islam and top officials of different organisations were also present at the ceremony.
