136 candidates to compete for each seat in JU admission test

A total of 2,49,857 aspirants have applied for the admission test at Jahangirnagar University for the academic year 2022-23, competing for 1,844 available seats, meaning there will be an average of 136 candidates vying for each seat. This year, 1,34,507 male and 1,15,350 female candidates will participate in the entrance examination. 

Abu Hassan, the Member Secretary and Deputy Registrar (Education) of the University's Central Admission Management Committee confirmed this information. 

As said by him, in the A Unit under the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Studies and Institute of Information Technology (IIT), 61,864 students are competing for 446 seats, while in the B Unit under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law, 41,469 students are vying for 386 seats. 

In the C Unit of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, 41,455 applications have been received for 388 seats. 

The C-1 Unit of the Department of Fine Arts and Drama and Dramatics has 5,065 applicants for 64 seats, and the Faculty of Biology under the D Unit has 76,064 applicants for 310 seats. 

In the E Unit under the Faculty of Business Studies, 18,097 students have applied for 200 seats, and to get admitted into the Institute of Business Studies (IBA), 5,843 students have applied for 50 seats. 

Online application for this year's admission test started on May 9 and lasted until May 31 at 11:59 pm. This year's admission test will be held from June 18 to June 22. 

However, the Fine Arts Department (C-1 Unit) practical examination will be held on June 25 and 26.
