Bangabandhu's birth anniversary and National Children's Day celebrated in JU

The 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children's Day have been celebrated in Jahangirnagar University with due dignity. The stakeholders of the university marked the day with much enthusiasm.

On Friday (March 17) at 10 am, a procession led by Vice-Chancellor Dr Md. Nurul Alam paraded the campus starting from the university's central Shaheed Minar premises, which ended in front of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. 

While inaugurating the procession, the Vice-Chancellor said, "Bangabandhu and Bangladesh are one and inseparable. He established independent-sovereign Bangladesh. Bangabandhu dreamed of building a Bengal of Gold (Sonar Bangla). Bangabandhu's eldest daughter, the current prime minister, is working tirelessly to fulfill the father of the nation's dream. Now Bangabandhu's daughter has announced the vision of building Smart Bangladesh. Everyone has to be a partner in realising this vision."

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Sheikh Md. Monzurul Haq, Treasurer Prof. Dr Rasheda Akhtar, Deans of various Faculties, Registrar (Contractual), Provosts of Residential Halls, Proctors, Chairmen of various Departments, other teachers, officers and employees of the University participated in the procession.

Vice-Chancellor paid homage to Bangabandhu's portrait at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall. After that, various institutes, departments, provosts of residential halls, the Bangabandhu Teachers Council, and various professional organisations paid tribute. Prayers were offered for the peace of the soul of the Father of the Nation.

On the occasion of the father of the nation's birthday, the Bangabandhu Kormokorta Parishad organised a cake-cutting ceremony at 11:30 am in the teachers' lounge of the new building of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at 12:00 pm in front of the new administration building.

JU Branch Chhatra League organised various programs. Jahangirnagar University Adventure Society organised a bicycle rally. Essay competitions were organised in JU School, and College and painting competitions among children and teenagers were organised in the old Arts and Humanities building. 

During the day-long program, prayers were organised in all the mosques and temples for the peace of the soul of the father of the nation.
