Nature summit in Mymensingh

Notre Dame Nature Study Club is back with the Third Divisional Festival or the Mymensingh Divisional Festival of the 13th National Nature Summit 2022, in partnership with the Department of Environment under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change through their ongoing project 'Integrated and Participatory Project to Control Noise Pollution' that took place at Mukul Niketon High School, Mymensingh on August 12, 2022.
The 13th iteration of the annual fest has already seen its launching in Chittagong divisional festival and its second succession in Rangpur fest. The 13th National Nature Summit is being hosted this year, with the goal of a ‘Nationwide Awareness Campaign’ and the motto of ‘Voice of Youth on Climate Change’ to remember that the youth might be the last generation that can still reverse climate damage. The first and second divisional round saw a colossal crowd of over 2600. Adding to that amount, the Mymensingh Divisional Festival saw over 1000 students, teachers, environmentalists, and guardians from across the division.
This fest was open to Primary Level (Class 1-5), Junior Level (Class 6-8), Secondary Level (Class 9-10), and Higher Secondary Level (Class 11-12) categories. 13th NNS has solo events like nature quizzes, and art competitions, team-based events like project display, wall magazine, green marathon, online events like 'Green Bee', ‘Confab Presentation’, photography contest. Moreover, it showcased a seminar on 'Sound pollution and actions to address the issue' organised by the Department of Environment.
The opening ceremony of the Mymensingh Divisional Festival of the 13th National Nature Summit 2022 was held at Mukul Niketon High School, Mymensingh, on August 12. The Mayor of the Mymensingh City corporation Ekramul Haque Titu and Advocate Gloria Jharna Sarker MP attended as the chief guests. Director of the Department of Environment, Mymensingh Dilruba Ahmed was present as the special guest. The Headmaster of Mukul Niketon High School Md Shamsul Alam and the Principal of Notre Dame College, Mymensingh Father Thadeus Hembrom also attended the inauguration ceremony.
Principal of Notre Dame College, Dhaka, Father Hemanto Pius Rozario chaired the ceremony. The prize-giving ceremony was hosted on the same day and was presided over by Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation Ekramul Haque Titu.
Advocate Gloria Jharna Sarker said, "Like every year, the Notre Dame Nature Study Club has returned to play its role in combating the deteriorating climate with an eight-divisional fest aimed at educating the 'mass people' about the worsening environmental conditions and providing youths with an opportunity to present their innovations. I congratulate Notre Dame Nature Study Club for pulling off a miraculous festival and wish them good luck."

Therefore, it is imperative to spread awareness about climate change and global warming and do whatever we can to save our country, and the world from our side. We congratulate Notre Dame College and Notre Dame Nature Study Club for organising a beautiful and well-thought-out event and hope that they will do their best for future events," praised Ekramul Haque Titu.
