NSU VC receives honorary Professorship from Nanjing Audit University, China

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, PhD, Vice-Chancellor of North South University (NSU), has been awarded an Honorary Professorship today by Nanjing Audit University (NAU), China, becoming the first South Asian scholar to receive this prestigious distinction from the institution. 

The recognition was conferred during a high-level symposium held earlier today at NAU, where the two universities also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster academic exchange, joint research, and institutional development.

In this regard, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, ‘such events mark a milestone in NSU’s growing international engagement and its mission to tackle global challenges through education, research, and socially responsible innovation.’

As part of the event, Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury delivered a keynote speech titled “Social Business and 3 Zeros,” which addressed innovative solutions to poverty, unemployment, and carbon emissions through sustainable business models.

Professor Sk Tawfique M Haque, Director of the South Asian Institute of Policy and Governance (SIPG) at NSU, attended the event. 

Later in the day, a high-level meeting was held at Jiangsu Bank. Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, as the Chairman of Grameen Bank, highlighted the bank’s pioneering role in inclusive finance. His remarks emphasised Grameen Bank’s global impact through microcredit, risk management strategies, and community-focused financial models.
