Over 5,000 recommended teachers fail to join jobs

Over 5,000 candidates, who were recommended for entry-level MPO-listed teaching and lecturer positions in private educational institutions, have failed to join their jobs.

While 41,626 individuals were recommended for these positions through the sixth public notice, 36,343 candidates have joined the posts, as reported by Md Aminul Islam, chief of the Private Teacher Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), responsible for the recruitment process.

On Tuesday, he said: “Although 57,840 candidates applied for 108,822 teaching and lecturer positions in the sixth public notice, only 41,627 were recommended, and 5,284 have failed to join.”

He noted that 300 candidates could not join due to incorrect information provided by institutions about vacancies. Many others have secured alternative jobs, while some candidates failed to join positions, citing distance from their homes.

The NTRCA chairman also highlighted issues with some institutions where governing bodies or heads demanded bribes to accept the appointed teachers.

He said, “This is completely unjust. If a school refuses to accept an NTRCA-recommended candidate, their MPO [monthly payment order] will be stopped, and the governing body or managing committee will be dissolved.”

The recruitment process began on Jun 22 after the sixth public notice was issued on Jun 16, and ended on Jul 10. The results were announced on Aug 19, with a deadline for joining by Sept 18.

The workshop was organised to provide information on the NTRCA’s recruitment process, with participation from NTRCA members and media personnel.
