Universal Hospital gets 'Covid Hero' award

The Universal Medical College and Hospital (UMCH) has been awarded as a 'Covid Hero' for providing necessary medicare facilities to patients during the coronavirus pandemic.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque handed over the award to Priti Chakraborty, the UMCH Chairman and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Director, in a ceremony - organised by the Bangladesh Private Medical College Association at a city hotel on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Maleque thanked the Covid heroes of both public and private sectors for working together to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the deadliest global disaster over the past 100 years.

Health Education and Family Welfare Department Secretary Md Azizur Rahman, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, and UMCH Managing Director Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty attended the function, among others.
