Appointments of 65 doctors cancelled at Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute
Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute has invalidated the appointment of 65 doctors previously recruited on an ad hoc basis without any notification.
On Sunday, the hospital’s Director Dr Mahbubul Alam said the appointments were made temporarily to address a shortage of doctors.
“However, the proper procedures were not followed, so the appointments have been cancelled,” he said.
“A new recruitment notice will be published in newspapers, and doctors will be appointed in line with all formal procedures.”
As per the decision of the board of directors, 65 people were appointed to the post of medical officer on Jul 4, reports bdnews24.com.
However, the matter came under scrutiny for not following the official appointment procedure.
When the allegations were raised, Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum ordered an investigation into the matter.
