BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has returned home after receiving medical clearance.
The party’s Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain, who is a physician, said Fakhrul’s condition is “stable” and he is doing physically well.
He was under treatment at the United Hospital under Prof Mominuzzaman, undergoing different tests.
Following news of his hospitalisation, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman checked up on his health from London.
The senior BNP leader returned home on Tuesday evening after having follow-up treatment for an eye condition in Bangkok. His wife Rahat Ara Begum accompanied him.
After arriving in Dhaka, Fakhrul returned home briefly before joining a meeting at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan. The meeting continued until 11pm.
Soon after returning to his residence, he fell ill and was admitted to the hospital.
On Wednesday afternoon, Jamaat-e-Islami deputy chief Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher and Assistant Secretary General Moazzam Hossain Helal visited him at the hospital and spoke briefly with the secretary-general.
