Family members of Indian victims who were killed in last month's attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir said they hoped New Delhi's retaliatory strikes would bring peace to their loved ones who were among the 26 people killed.
India had earlier said two of the three suspects in the tourist attack were Pakistani nationals but has not detailed any evidence. Pakistan denied that it had anything to do with the killings.
"I am proud that the Indian army and (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi stood by their promises and attacked Pakistan. The departed souls of my family members can now rest in peace," the nephew of two of the victims told India's ANI news agency, without giving his name.
In some parts of India, people let off firecrackers and waved national flags in celebration.
"We are happy that the deaths of the 26 individuals, along with my son, have been avenged today. We express our gratitude to the Indian government," Syed Hyer Shah, the father of another of the victims, told ANI.
