The interim government has established the July Mass Uprising Directorate to preserve the history of the uprising, support the families of those killed and injured, and promote its ideals at the national level.
A gazette notification announcing the formation of the directorate was issued on Monday by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
The notification stated that the directorate has been established following a decision made at the Advisory Council meeting on December 12.
An inter-ministerial meeting was held on December 28, chaired by Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam, with the aim of establishing the directorate.
During the meeting, a policy decision was made to form the directorate under the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
Following this, the Advisory Council granted its approval.
