Bangladesh Police will launch an online General Diary (GD) filing service today (Tuesday), initially available in Dhaka and Mymensingh, aiming to simplify access to police services for the public. The initiative comes under the directives of Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
A senior police official at Police Headquarters said on Monday that after the launch of the online GD filing service, the digital platform will be expanded further.
Residents under all police stations in Dhaka and Mymensingh will be able to file all types of GDs online. Previously, the online service was limited to loss and recovery reports but will now accommodate all categories of complaints.
To file GD online, users must download the "Online GD" app from the Google Play Store and complete a one-time registration process. A 24-hour hotline (01320001428) has been set up to assist users with registration or filing issues.
AIG (Media and PR) Enamul Haque Sagar stated that Bangladesh Police is committed to enhancing public access to its services.
"The online GD facility will gradually be introduced in other regions and metropolitan areas across the country," he added.
