The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) will provide skills training to 12,000 more marginal people, aiming to meet the need for skilled workers at home and abroad.
The training will be provided in key trades such as electrical installation, mobile servicing, IT support, tailoring, welding, plumbing, solar technology, and caregiving.
To this effect, the PKSF on Monday inked contracts with 10 training institutions at a programme held at its office in the Agargaon area of Dhaka.
The event also formally launched the PKSF segment of a major government project titled ‘Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP)’.
Secretary of the Finance Division Dr Khairuzzaman Mozumder attended the event as the chief guest, while Additional Secretary and Executive Program Director (EPD) Mohammed Walid Hossain was present as a special guest of the event, chaired by PKSF Chairman Zakir Ahmed Khan.
The SICIP programme, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), is being implemented from 2025 to 2028.
It aims to address the national skills gap by training youth from disadvantaged communities, including women, ethnic minorities, and persons with disabilities.
Through this initiative, PKSF and its partners seek to foster inclusive economic growth by creating a skilled workforce that can meet both local and global industry demands.
