Trade between Bangladesh and India through the Hili land port in Dinajpur district has remained suspended since Saturday morning on the occasion of Janmashtami, a major religious festival of the Hindu community.
Ferdous Rahman, president of the Bangla Hili C&F Agents Association, said the trade between the two countries through the port has been suspended today due to the holiday for Janmashtami.
“All trade activities, including loading and unloading of goods, are also closed. Activities will resume tomorrow, Sunday morning,” he added.
Meanwhile, cross-border passenger movement through the Hili immigration check post continues as usual.
Ariful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hili Immigration Check-post, said, “Although imports and exports are suspended due to the public holiday, passenger travel through the immigration point remains normal like other days.”
