Dr Asif Nazrul, the adviser for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs to the interim government, has said a truth and reconciliation commission will be formed in the country.
The adviser came up with the statement at a view-exchange meeting at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in Dhaka on Saturday.
Referring to the statement of eminent columnist and writer Farhad Mazhar, the adviser said, “A truth and reconciliation commission will be formed so that we can establish the fact that the criminals involved in genocide and crimes against humanity are detached from the mainstream section of our nation.”
“This commission is very necessary in the country. It would have been better if this had been in our country since 1972,” he said.
Asif Nazrul informed that he and the chief adviser will visit South Africa along with a team in this regard.
“The experience from the country will be shared after that trip and opinions from stakeholders will be taken before formation of the commission,” he said.
