7 more die of measles, measles-like symptoms

Seven more children died of measles and measles-like symptoms during last 24 hours across the country, according to official sources.

Among them, two children were confirmed cases of measles affliction, while the remaining five died of measles-like symptoms.

During the period, 729 children got admitted to hospitals across the country with measles-like symptoms, while 82 cases of measles were confirmed.

The Directorate General of Health Services revealed the figures on Monday in its latest bulletin.

The data covers the period from 8:00 am on April 12 to 8:00 am on April 13.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 30 children have died in the country from measles since March 15.

During the same period, 156 children have died with measles-like symptoms.

Among 17,024 children, who came with measles-like symptoms, 10,954 were admitted to hospitals. Of them, 2,721 were confirmed to have measles.

A total of 8,369 children have recovered and returned home from hospitals.

In the last 24 hours, the two children who died from measles were from Dhaka Division.

Of the five children, who died with measles-like symptoms, four were from Dhaka Division and one from Rajshahi.

During this period, the highest number of confirmed cases--76--was reported in Dhaka Division, followed by Rajshahi division with four confirmed cases and Chattogram two cases.

No confirmed cases were reported from other divisions, According to the DGHS.
