The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation against former high commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom (UK), Saida Muna Tasneem, and her husban,d Tawhidul Islam Chowdhury, over allegations of laundering around Tk 20.0 billion.
ACC Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen disclosed the information to the journalists at a regular press briefing at its headquarters today.
Saida Muna’s husband, Tawhidul Islam Chowdhury, is also the chairman of Generation Next Fashions Limited.
The ACC chairman said that the accused persons in connivance with each other, misappropriated and laundered Tk 20.0 billion abroad, taking loans from different commercial banks against 12 commercial establishments, including General Next Fashions Limited.
