The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch an inquiry against the former MP of Faridpur-3 constituency and former Minister of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives (LGRD), Engineer Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, over various allegations of corruption and irregularities.

This decision was made on Monday at the ACC’s headquarters.

The commission’s Public Relations Officer, Md. Akhtarul Islam, confirmed the matter to The Financial Express.

Khandaker Mosharraf was first elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the 2009 Ninth National Parliamentary Election. He was appointed as the Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and solidified his political influence in Faridpur. In 2014, he was re-elected as MP for a second consecutive term and established dominant control across Faridpur. He was elected for a third term during the Awami League government’s third consecutive term.

After Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain stepped down from his ministerial duties, various unethical activities in the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, allegedly involving his relatives, came to light.
