The ‘Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026’ will commence on December 17 this year instead of February, as the national election is scheduled for that month.
The fair will continue until January 17, 2026.
The decision was made at a meeting on Thursday at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury auditorium of Bangla Academy to finalise the dates of the fair.
The meeting was presided over by Md Mofidul Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam, the academy’s secretary and directors, and representatives from the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association were present at the meeting.
In light of the upcoming national elections and the holy month of Ramadan, the meeting decided that the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will be held from December 17, 2025, to January 17, 2026.
