He said, state-run Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) also started its journey with only around 500 megawatt (MW) after independence and contributed to increasing the country’s overall electricity generation to around 25,235 MW.

Bangabandhu also encouraged engineers for the nation’s development and arranged training for engineers at home and abroad for their professional development, said Mr Hamid.

Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, BPDB Chairman Belayet Hossain, Power Cell Director General Mohammed Hossain, and BPP Central President Dr Habibur Rahman also spoke on the occasion chaired by President BPP, BPDB Ashutosh Roi.
