BCL infighting leaves one dead in Sylhet

An activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was killed and two others were injured in a factional clash at Tilagarh in Sylhet city on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Omar Ahmed, a BBA student of Leading University, reports UNB.

Zedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said two factions of Tilagarh unit BCL had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.

As a sequel to the enmity, the supporters of both groups locked into an altercation around 3 pm and attacked each other, leaving Omar dead on the spot and two others injured.

Injured Nazmul and Nasim were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

Police also arrested Fakhrul Isalm, 30 from the area for his suspected involvement in the incident.
