The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) says it has arrested the bus driver involved in an accident on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway in Lohagara that resulted in the deaths of 11 people.
Sohel Talukder was taken into custody from the Ansar Camp area in Dhaka’s Mirpur on Sunday night, said RAB-7 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police ARM Mofazzar Hossain.
Sohel, 27, hails from Dhaka’s Dakshinkhan area, reports bdnews24.com.
The RAB says he fled to Dhaka after the accident and went into hiding.
On Apr 2, a microbus headed to Cox’s Bazar crashed into a bus headed in the opposite direction on the highway in Lohagara’s Chunti.
Ten passengers on board the microbus were killed on the spot. Another passenger died in hospital. Sohel, the driver of the Relax Paribahan bus, fled immediately after the crash.
The RAB says Md Rabiul Hossein, the brother-in-law of crash victim Rafiqul Islam, filed a case as the plaintiff against unidentified suspects at Lohagara Police Station.
