The government has taken steps to modernise the parks of Dhaka city by 2021 aiming to increase the recreation facilities for city dwellers.
“There are 23 parks and four children parks in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC),” Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam said this on Tuesday while responding to a starred question placed by lawmaker Haji Md Selim of Dhaka-7 in parliament with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
He said the Modernisation and Development of Open Space project of the DNCC is under implementation to increase the civic amenities for the city dwellers.
Under the project, Tajul said, the 23 parks and four children’s parks will be developed, while the development works continues in three parks and one playground.
The development works of all the parks are expected to be completed by 2021, he said, reports BSS.
Besides, the LGRD minister said, there are 20 parks in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
The development works of all the parks of the DSCC continue under its different projects, which are scheduled to be completed within next one year.
