Police recovered the body of a youth from a water body in Lohagara upazila of Narail on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Salman Khandakar, 24, son of Khaza Khandakar of Shamukkhola village under the upazila.
According to police and locals, Salman and his friends had a picnic on the bank of the Madhumati River in Ramkantapur village on Thursday, reports UNB.
After returning home from the picnic, Salman again went out at around 11:30 pm on Thursday but did not return.
As he was found missing, family members tried to reach him over mobile phone several times but failed it was switched off.
The next morning, locals spotted the body floating in the water body, locally known as beel, in Noagram union and subsequently informed the police.
Being informed, family members also rushed to the scene and identified the body of Salman.
Md Ashiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Lohagara police station, said the body was recovered and sent to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Legal action will be taken after investigation, he added.
