Derailment snaps Sylhet’s rail communications

Rail communications between Sylhet and the rest of the country snapped following the derailment of four bogies of the Surma Mail at Shibbari in the city on Wednesday noon.

The accident took place while the train was entering the outer signal area of Sylhet Railway Station around 1:30 pm, said Station Officer Md Shajahan, reports UNB.

Meanwhile, Kushiyara Express from Akhaura was trapped near the station creating immense suffering to the commuters, he added.

Authorities concerned have taken necessary steps to restore the rail communication, said the railway official.
