The 89th birth anniversary of Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Sheikh was observed at Noor Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur union of Narail sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Noor Mohammad Nagar, which was earlier known as Mahiskhola where he was born, was renamed after him in his honour.
Birshreshtha Noor Mohammad Sheikh Trust and the district administration jointly organised a colourful programme to mark the day.
The programme began with the recitation from the Holy Quran in the morning, giving a guard of honour at Noor Mohammad Nagar and offering prayers seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Noor Mohammad Sheikh.
