Man arrested over murders of mother, daughter in Chattogram's Anwara

Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a mother and daughter at their home in Chattogram’s Anwara Upazila.
On Saturday night, Sujan Barua's wife, Annie Barua, 40, and their daughter Priyanti Barua, 16, were killed at their own home in Chenamati Barua Para of Ward No. 6 of Paroikora Union.
Police arrested Sujan's cousin Tejpriyo Barua on Sunday night in connection with the incident, bdnews24.com reports.
Sujan claimed that Tejpriyo had borrowed Tk 170,000 from him and had stamped a document regarding the loan. He believes Tejpriyo entered his house to snatch the document and killed his wife and daughter.
Chattogram District Assistant Superintendent of Police (Anwara Circle) Mahmudul Hasan said, “One person has been arrested in the case over the murder of the mother and daughter.
On Saturday night, Annie and Priyanti were hacked to death with a sharp weapon at their home.
Police went to the scene and recovered the bloodied bodies of the mother and daughter once the incident was reported. Annie’s 5-year-old son was also injured in the attack.
Annie’s husband Sujan works as a security guard in Chattogram. She and her children lived at their village home.
