BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has secured a six-month interim bail in a case filed over the deaths of people in an arson attack in Cumilla.

Eight people were killed and 20 others injured when a petrol bomb was hurled at a bus at Jagmohanpur in Chauddagram upazila during the BNP-led alliance's movement on February 3, 2015.

Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman's bench granted the bail to the BNP chief after hearing a petition on Wednesday, reports UNB.

AJ Mohammad Ali stood for Khaleda while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state.

Khaleda's lawyer moved the HC on February 27 after a subordinate court in Cumilla rejected her bail plea on February 4.
