Detectives nab six ‘drug pedlars’ in Ashulia

Detectives in a drive arrested six suspected drug pedlars from Aukpara Bastuhara Pallu in Savar’s Ashulia on Friday night after a clash with them.

Five members of detective branch of police, including two DB sub-inspectors, were injured in the attack by pedlars.

Mohammad Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of Dhaka District (North) DB branch, said being tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a drive in the area at night and arrested listed drug pedlar Nur Hossain, 18, along with 60 yaba tablets.

Nur's family members attacked the police team and beat up DB inspector Shahidul Islam. They also snatched Nur from police custody.

On information, additional police went to the spot. When they tried to arrest Nur, the DB team again came under attack, UNB reports.

The injured are DB SI Faisal Murad, constable Lima Khatun, Mamun Haider and Shawkat.

However, the team managed to arrest Nur and five other drug pedlars - Shah Alam, Rokeya, Anwara, Salma and Hosne Ara along with the contraband tablets and cannabis.

The injured were admitted to Savar Upazila Health Complex.
