Rail service from Dhaka to Faridpur's Bhanga via Padma Bridge will start in June this year, said Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan on Tuesday.

"The work on the railway lines of the Padma Bridge project is progressing fast and currently the overall progress of work is 73 per cent," said the minister.

He said this when he came to inspect the progress of the Padma Bridge railway line project in Dogachi of Munshiganj's Srinagar upazila, reports BSS citing a press release.

The minister said the construction of the line from Dhaka to Mawa is now a big challenge.

He visited Maoa Rail Station and boarded a train used by construction workers from Jajira station to inspect the overall progress of the rail lines.

Project director Afzal Hossain said the construction work of the 182 km rail lines from Dhaka to Jashore is going on round the clock.

"We're hopeful about completing the work by June," he added.
