NETRAKONA, Feb 05: Erosion by the Dhanu river has taken a serious turn, devouring at least 50 houses under Khaliajuri upazila.

Local UP chairman Ataur Rahman said the Dhanu river was flowing through Panchahat Charpara village under Khaliajuri. The river has turned 50 families homeless.

He said necessary steps were needed to be taken immediately to save several hundred families from the risk of erosion.

Upon visiting the village, Khaliajuri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) AHM Ariful Islam said a group was trying to rehabilitate the affected families in the river erosion.

Moreover, concerned authorities were being informed to take necessary steps to prevent the erosion of the village.
