Just a day before his wedding, a 28-year-old engineer’s life came to a tragic end in a road accident in Goromati area in Natore’s Baraigram area on Sunday morning.
Md Zulfikar, who worked at a private company in Dhaka, had set out early in his private car to bring his sister and brother-in-law from Dashuria in Pabna to Bonpara.
According to highway police, the accident occurred when he lost control of the car and slammed into the rear of a stationary truck.
The car was crushed and wedged underneath the truck, leaving him dead on the spot.
Locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the news but there was little they could do.
Police later recovered the body and informed the family.
Back home, the scene was one of unimaginable sorrow.
The house that was meant to host wedding celebrations was instead filled with grief as relatives and neighbours gathered in shock.
Officer-in-Charge of Bonpara Highway Police Station Moniruzzaman said the body would be handed over to the family as no complaint had been filed.
However, a general diary will be recorded in connection with the incident.
