EVM gains acceptance among voters, CEC says

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Sunday said electronic voting machine (EVM) has gained acceptance among voters.

The CEC came up with the statement while addressing a view exchange meeting with the members of law enforcement agencies at Chattogram Circuit House ahead of Chattogram City Corporation election, reports BSS.

Terming the electoral environment as peaceful ahead of CCC polls, the CEC said a huge number of city dwellers are participating in the election campaign spontaneously.

He directed the election officials to ensure the safety of polling agents.

“All candidates must maintain the electoral code of conduct, so that no question arises about it,” he added.

“Everyone should play their roles to ensure a participatory and fair election,” he added.

Divisional Commissioner ABM Azad, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mominur Rahman, Chattogram Range DIG of police Anwar Hossain, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir and Chattogram Regional Election Officer Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, among others attended the function.
