Fire at Capital Siraj Centre on Bailey Road Brought Under Control; 18 Rescued

A fire broke out in the basement of the Capital Siraj Centre shopping mall on Bailey Road, Dhaka, on Monday evening. The blaze started around 6:47 PM and was brought under control by 7:47 PM after an hour-long effort by nine firefighting units.
Eighteen individuals, including nine women, seven men, and two children, were rescued from the building. No casualties have been reported, according to local media.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. The building houses restaurants, retail outlets, offices, and residential apartments.
This incident follows a previous fire on Bailey Road in February 2024, where a blaze at the Green Cozy Cottage shopping mall resulted in 46 fatalities.
