Former Sunamganj-5 lawmaker Mohibur Rahman Manik was arrested in Dhaka’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Tuesday.
He was detained on charges of carrying out attacks on the mass student-public movement in Sunamganj, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said in a statement, according to a bdnews24.com report.
Hafiz Ahmed, the brother of an injured student, initiated the lawsuit on September 2 over the allegation of attacks on the students and the public in Sunamganj Sadar during the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, accusing 99 people including former planning minister MA Mannan and three former members of parliament.
The RAB apprehended Manik in relation to the charges.
Hafiz filed the case after Johur Ahmed suffered bullet injuries while participating in the civil movement on August 4.
