The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has detained former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.
She was picked up from her residence in Dhanmondi in Dhaka around 4:30 am.
DB Additional Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said that Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury had been detained and brought to the DB office. She is currently in DB custody.
Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is accused in a case related to violence during the July mass uprising. On 27 August, 2024, a murder case was filed against her and 17 others, including former Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, over the death of goldsmith Muslim Uddin (38), who was shot in Rangpur.
