Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has removed three senior leaders  -- Anisul Islam Mahmud, ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, and Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu  -- from all party posts.

The announcement came shortly after Shamim Haider Patwary was appointed the new secretary general, replacing Mujibul Haque.

In a statement, the party said the decision followed complaints of indiscipline raised at a meeting on 25 June.

A subsequent presidium meeting on 28 June backed the move, and the chairman acted under his constitutional powers, it added.

Leaders reject decision

Shortly before the announcement, Anisul Islam and Hawlader issued a joint statement rejecting the appointment of Patwary as secretary general.

They called the move “undemocratic and unconstitutional,” and said Mujibul Haque remained the party’s legitimate secretary general. They argued that no appointment or removal was valid before the next council meeting.

The two leaders also accused the chairman of taking a unilateral decision based on false allegations and said it was damaging to the party’s unity and values.

They urged party members to stand together to restore internal democracy and collective leadership.
