People across Bangladesh are reeling from sweltering weather as a heatwave spreads its grip on 22 districts following a brief respite on Saturday.
The heatwave, classified as mild to moderate, is expected to persist for a few days, with day and night temperatures likely to remain unchanged, according to the latest weather bulletin published by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Sunday.
In addition, a mild heatwave affecting the districts of Rajshahi, Kurigram, and Tangail is expected to diminish, reports bdnews24.com.
Over the next 24 hours, parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions are likely to see light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. In some places, the rainfall could be moderate to very heavy.
Temperatures across the country may decrease by 2-3 degrees Celsius. The likelihood of rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected to increase over the next five days.
