Jamaat wins all four seats in Satkhira

Candidates of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have won all four parliamentary seats in Satkhira district, according to unofficial results announced after vote counting.

In Satkhira-1 (Tala-Kalaroa), Jamaat candidate Izzat Ullah, contesting with the party’s scale symbol, received 220,330 votes from all 168 centres. His nearest rival, Habibul Islam Habib of BNP’s paddy sheaf symbol, bagged 190,985 votes. Izzat Ullah won the seat by a margin of 25,626 votes.

In Satkhira-2 (Sadar), Muhaddis Abdul Khaleque of Jamaat secured 260,423 votes from 180 centres, while BNP candidate Abdur Rouf received 114,332 votes. Khaleque won by a landslide margin of 146,091 votes.

In Satkhira-3, Jamaat’s Muhaddis Rabiul Bashar garnered 132,873 votes from 165 centres. Independent candidate Dr Shahidul Alam, contesting with the football symbol, received 93,834 votes. Bashar won the seat by nearly 39,000 votes.

In Satkhira-4, Jamaat candidate Gazi Nazrul Islam secured 105,462 votes from 96 centres, defeating BNP’s Dr Moniruzzaman, who got 84,424 votes. Gazi Nazrul Islam won by a margin of 21,038 votes.
