BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha at her Gulshan residence “Feroza” in Dhaka, where she will exchange Eid greetings with members of the party’s Standing Committee.

BNP Standing Committee member AZM Zahid Hossain said one sacrifice will be performed at Feroza and another will take place in Gabtali, Bogura in the names of Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and their family members, according to bdnews24.com report.

TIME WITH EXTENDED FAMILY

On Eid day, Khaleda will spend the afternoon with her relatives.

Zahid said, “Her elder sister Selina Rahman, younger brother Shamim Eskandar, and their family members will come to Feroza to exchange Eid greetings with her.”

“She will have lunch with her relatives,” he added.

Zahid mentioned that in the evening, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other standing committee members will visit Feroza to exchange Eid greetings with the former prime minister.

TARIQUE CALLS KHALEDA

Zahid explained that Khaleda’s eldest son, the BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is celebrating Eid a day earlier, on Jun 6, due to time zone differences.

He has performed Eid prayers with the party members at a London Eidgah.

He said Tarique called his mother in the morning to wish her Eid greetings. Khaleda also spoke with her daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

Zahid confirmed that Tarique, his wife Zubaida Rahman, their daughter Zaima Rahman, as well as the late Arafat Rahman Coco’s wife Syeda Shamila Rahman and daughters Zahia Rahman and Zafia Rahman, are all celebrating Eid together in London.

Zubaida left Dhaka on Thursday and reached London later that night. Shamila had returned to London around a week and a half earlier.

Khaleda returned to Dhaka from London on May 6 after completing her medical treatment, accompanied by both of her daughters-in-law.

EID GREETINGS TO THE PEOPLE AND THE BNP

Zahid said the BNP chairperson has extended her Eid greetings to the people of Bangladesh and to BNP activists living abroad.

As part of Khaleda’s personal medical team, he said her condition is stable, with daily health checks carried out as recommended by the medical board.

CONCERN FOR THE PUBLIC AND EID CELEBRATIONS

Zahid said on the occasion of Eid, Khaleda wishes for everyone to be able to celebrate the festivities properly.

“She often says that Eid only finds meaning if the people are able to smile—if their burdens are eased, even slightly.”

The BNP chief celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr nearly two and a half months ago with her son in London. That celebration, shared with her two daughters-in-law and grandchildren, was her first Eid celebrated with family in over 15 years.
