Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) expressed grave concern over the ongoing unstable security situation near the international boundary inside Myanmar.

It urged Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) to adopt necessary measures in arresting the situation.

BGB reiterated the national concern about the early repatriation of Rohingya and solicited appropriate endeavours from the Myanmar side.

BGB said this at a press conference on Tuesday in Dhaka following the five-day Border Conference between BGB and BGP held at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Director General (DG) of BGB Major General Shakil Ahmed led the Bangladesh delegation at the border conference in Myanmar.

The DG said at the press conference that Myanmar had assured BGB of not violating Bangladesh air space in the border conference.

The border conference ended with the signing of Joint Records of Discussion (JRD). The two parties agreed to work together against various terrorist groups along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border, and prevent illegal border crossing.

Outside the conference, DG BGB also met the Deputy Home Minister and the Union Home Minister of Myanmar separately. He discussed the repatriation of Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) and other bilateral issues related to both forces.
