Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has initially allocated Tk 20 million to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to the flood-hit people of Sylhet and Sunamganj districts.

The fund is being spent on distributing emergency food items, water purification tablets and saline among the flood victims in the areas, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The humanitarian assistance programme is being conducted through 99 branch offices of 11 PKSF affiliate NGOs.

In addition to the funds allocated by the PKSF, the partner organisations are also conducting various humanitarian assistance activities using their own funds.

The PKSF has made all preparations to intensify emergency relief activities, including increasing the allocation considering the flood situation.

To this end, a special committee has been formed by the PKSF to keep a close watch on the flood situation.

In addition, guidelines have been formulated on the role of partner organisations in conducting livelihood activities during and after floods.
